I first met Alistair in the 1980s when he worked as Local Studies Librarian in Bury St Edmunds. When he retired I applied for, and got, his job and we became friends in the years that followed. I am 20 years his junior so we didn't always share the same tastes in music or art. He was always interesting, however, and talked with enthusiasm about the things that he loved. Rest in peace Alistair.
